Now I hear the price of tequila is going to increase due to the removal of agave plants to grow ... get this ... CORN!

I'm not sure what you're saying here. According to the article, they over-planted agave, so now the price has collapsed. Some farmers are now switching to corn, since there's no money to be made in agave, yet corn is more lucrative, as there is a shortage in part due to ethanol production. This has caused shortages of some essentials in Mexico, and caused prices of tortillas (a staple food) to go up. So to both make more money, and feed their people, Mexican farmers switching from agave to corn would seem to be a good thing, no?

Chasing,
If you knew me better, I am sure my "dry" sense of humor relating to anything tequila would have come shining through.
I figured the "silly and stupid" grouping would have been a dead give-away, but I guess not. Thanks for stopping by.

No ... don't go away, Chasing. **me chasing after Chasing**
You're not stupid, silly. I just thought the "Newsvine" Grape Vine" was better than it actually is, I guess.
Maybe this will give you a better idea what I'm talking about.
Happy Friday !!

I hate to be a wet blanket but if there's a choice between a cash crop for food or liqour, the food crop has to win hands down. We'll have to wean ourselves off Tequilla, much as I love the drink myself.
